Los Angeles (USA)-based gothic/industrial act Me And My Nightmare, a project by Mea Fisher (former Lords Of Acid vocalist), unveiled the heartfelt poignant new single and video, "Don't Forget Me". The single features En Esch (Slick Idiot, <PIG>, Pigface, ex-KMFDM) on keyboards.
"Don't Forget Me" is Mea's tribute to her mother, Patricia who tragically passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 84.
A common occurrence during the stages of Alzheimer's disease is when the patient loses their memory. Mea states: "As her only child, the fear of being told that someday my mother might forget me terrified me to the core. I feared it everyday but it didn't happen. She always remembered her "little baby girl" all the way to the very end. Never once did she forget me. It was a gift, even though I lost her."
The music video for "Don't Forget Me" captures the beauty and the heartbreak so often felt from the perspective of the caregiver - the trips to the doctor's office, the feeling of helplessness as well as the endless calls symbolized by the slamming down of the phone on the receiver.
The visual representation of Mea's story provides a snapshot of the journey taken by a caregiver and their loved one through terminal illness. Nostalgic, hazy, flashback scenes mirror the real-life loving relationship and memories Méa had with her mother.
