Two decades after their formation, Greek dark/gothic/atmospheric metal ensemble Elysion return with what promises to be their most ambitious and emotionally resonant chapter yet. The band proudly announce their fourth studio album, Identity, set for release on 16 October via Massacre Records — a milestone work crafted as both a creative evolution and a celebration of their twenty‑year journey.
To mark the announcement, Elysion unveil the album’s first single and official video, “Guardian Angel”. The track stands as a commanding statement of intent: a fusion of the band’s trademark atmospheric darkness, soaring melodic lines, and a fierce sense of determination. Musically uplifting yet shadow‑kissed, “Guardian Angel” embodies the thematic core of Identity — hope, strength, and resilience forged through adversity.
The accompanying video confronts a deeply important social issue: child abuse. Through stark imagery and emotional weight, Elysion highlight the urgent need for protection, awareness, and a safer world for children everywhere.
Vocalist Christianna Chatzimichali reflects on the single: “‘Guardian Angel’ was an obvious choice for the first single. It carries the emotional intensity, energy and character that define Identity. While the video focuses on a very important social issue, the song itself can resonate differently with every listener and become part of their own personal story.”
Recorded and produced at Devasoundz Studio by Fotis Benardo and Elysion, mixed by Benardo, and mastered by Nasos Nomikos at VU Productions, Identity sees the band expanding every facet of their sound. Richer atmospheres, sharper contrasts, and heightened emotional depth all converge without sacrificing the essence that has earned Elysion a devoted international following. The album’s artwork, created by Dimitris Tzortzis, further reflects its introspective and celebratory spirit.
For Elysion, Identity is more than a new record — it is a tribute. A heartfelt offering to the fans who have stood with them across two decades, and to the global hard rock and metal community that continues to embrace their music. It is a recognition of where they have come from, and a bold declaration of where they are heading.
