Devastating new doom/death metal venture Abysmal Rage, forged by multi‑instrumentalist Aimeric Lerat / Hangsvart (best known as the architect behind UK funeral doom entity Abysmal Growls Of Despair), have inked a deal with Wormholedeath for their debut full‑length, A House No One Could Live In. The record is slated for release on 6 November, and the title track is out now.
Where Abysmal Growls Of Despair traverses slow, ritualistic funeral doom, drone, and sorrow, Abysmal Rage delivers an aggressive, unfiltered sonic assault. Driven by the crushing weight of 8‑string guitars and 5‑string bass, the project fuses the suffocating doom atmospheres of Slow Transcending Agony‑era Ataraxie and Stomach Earth with the violent death metal ferocity of Cannibal Corpse and Immolation.
A House No One Could Live In rejects technical excess and modern polish in favour of raw, suffocating intensity. Every riff and guttural vocal delivery exists to build a massive atmosphere drenched in human terror, blasphemy and unfiltered rage. The album's theme is further amplified by original artwork and lyrics contributed by artist Ophidia XIII, weaving autobiographical experiences with bleak spiritual metaphors.
"Nothing sounds polished for the sake of sounding polished. Everything exists to create a massive, oppressive, suffocating atmosphere."
With a second album already in production—centred on Hangsvart's animistic beliefs—A House No One Could Live In marks the terrifying first chapter in Abysmal Rage's discography.
To celebrate the announcement, the band has presented the crushing title track alongside an accompanying video. Link
