German medieval folk metal titans Feuerschwanz ignite the night with their new single “Carpe Noctem”, a powerful collaboration with the legendary In Extremo. The track merges Feuerschwanz’s unmistakable high‑energy flair with In Extremo’s iconic medieval rock sound, resulting in a rousing anthem dedicated to freedom, revelry, and living entirely in the present moment.
“Carpe Noctem” channels everything both bands stand for: unrestrained celebration, nocturnal spirit, and the thrill of casting aside all boundaries. Voices intertwine, bagpipes and guitars surge, and the song unfolds as a call to embrace the night without hesitation.
The timing of this collaboration could not be more fitting. In 2027, Feuerschwanz and In Extremo will embark on their massive co‑headline tour “Heute wird der Himmel brennen”, sweeping across Germany with fire, folklore, and full‑moon intensity. “Carpe Noctem” already feels like the tour’s unofficial anthem — loud, triumphant, and built for unforgettable sing‑alongs and long nights shared with thousands of fans.
Before the joint tour begins in spring, Feuerschwanz will host their grand Metfest on 19 December at the Grugahalle in Essen, promising a final celebration before the new chapter unfolds.
Speaking about the single, Feuerschwanz reflect on its inspiration: “‘Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make.’ Count Dracula’s words from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel guided our journey into the nocturnal realm of the undead. In our version, ‘the children of the night’ become ‘the warriors of the night’, joined by the noble company of In Extremo. As a band born from the German medieval rock scene, this collaboration is a true accolade — and we cannot wait to howl at the full moon together on tour. Because only at night are we truly free. CARPE NOCTEM.” Link
