US post‑punk/gothic rock group The Secrecy have dropped a video for the track "Meet Me After Midnight", which appears on their debut full-length, Pins & Needles, released in July on Disorder Recordings.
Directed by John Bradburn, the "Meet Me After Midnight" video amplifies the song's murky, nocturnal mood. Vocalist Dustin Boltjes explains: "I wrote this one because I really wanted to add a song to the record that had more of a darkwave influence to it. And as I was finishing it, the vibe felt really grimy and kind of sleazy. So, when it came time to write the lyrics, I kept thinking about the 'casual encounters' section of Craigslist. I used to love reading those ads and thinking about the type of people who were likely writing them. So, this song is about that. The anonymity of entering a world of secret sexual fantasies and the mysterious double lives that people will live in an effort to delve into their darkest desires".
