Australian–Finnish progressive gothic metal visionaries The Eternal step confidently into a new creative chapter with the release of their critically acclaimed studio album Obscured Horizons, out now via Reigning Phoenix Music. To coincide with the album’s unveiling, the band have also released the official music video for “Harmony Breaks”, a profoundly introspective piece that examines the fragile boundary between inner equilibrium and collapse, between what is real and what is merely perceived.
“Harmony Breaks” delves into the album’s most reflective terrain — a sonic journey shaped by brooding atmospheres, progressive dynamics and the emotional weight that has long defined The Eternal’s craft. The accompanying video amplifies this tension, visually tracing the sense of fracture, drift and searching that lies at the heart of the track.
Frontman Mark Kelson expands on the song’s thematic core: “‘Harmony Breaks’ is about that internal fracture point, when the balance you’ve been holding onto finally gives way and you’re forced to confront truths you’ve been avoiding. It explores the tension between reality and illusion, where the mind becomes a space of conflict, shaped by past burdens and unresolved thoughts. The idea of chasing ghosts reflects being trapped in what’s already gone, while still searching for clarity or an ‘elusive cure’ that never quite arrives. Even as everything feels like it’s drifting and dissolving, there’s an underlying pull towards understanding — capturing what it means to exist in that fragile space between coherence and fragmentation.”
