South African gothic rock/darkwave institution The Awakening have released the first single and official video from their forthcoming thirteenth studio album, The Lost Theatre, due out on 23 August via Intervention Arts. The new track, “Until The Dawn”, marks the opening chapter of the album’s narrative and offers a powerful glimpse into the emotional landscape that shaped the record.
Frontman Ashton Nyte describes the song as the spark that ignited the entire album: “‘Until The Dawn’ is the song that gave birth to The Lost Theatre. I’m always writing songs, but this one told me a new album was on the way, and it had to be the first single. It is essentially a song about the courage of asking for help. It is a song of hope.”
The release follows the band’s highly successful self‑titled album from 2024, which climbed to #3 on Germany’s Deutsche Alternative Charts and produced videos that collectively amassed millions of views. With The Lost Theatre, The Awakening continue their legacy of blending poetic melancholy, cinematic atmosphere, and deeply human storytelling.
To support the album, the band will embark on a German tour, extending the momentum of last year’s worldwide Haunting Tour, which saw The Awakening headline shows across Germany, Poland, France, the Netherlands, the US, Canada, the UK, Mexico, and South Africa. The new single signals another evocative chapter in Nyte’s ever‑expanding creative universe — one rooted in vulnerability, resilience, and the enduring power of connection. Link
