Dutch doom metal collective Ter Ziele offers another glimpse, "This Mortal Coil", into its debut album, Embodiment Of Death, due on 28 February through Tartarus Records. The accompanying music video, directed by Ian Geerts, features footage from the band's gripping and haunting live performances, perfectly capturing the intensity of its sound and presence.
The band on the new track: "Amidst a rapid, disintegrating world, 'This Mortal Coil' is a cry for dignity - a final act of defiance against the relentless shift, where the wish is to depart from it all before the point of no return takes not only hold of our lives but that of all things living. We embrace death, not as an end, but as a return to the ashes of what we once were. It is here, where we lost all hope, that we burn out - not out of hate, but as a final testament to the fragility of life, as we are consumed by the fire of the inevitable".
The debut album, Embodiment of Death, will be released on vinyl, cassette, and digitally. With a powerful emotional depth and crushing sonic journey, the album promises to immerse listeners in the darkness and anguish of the human experience, offering an unforgettable ride through shadows.
Formed at the end of 2020, Ter Ziele came together with a shared passion for heavy, heart-wrenching music. With crushing, desolate riffs, fragile melodies, and poignant vocals, the band has crafted a sound that pushes the boundaries of doom, while weaving in elements of post-black metal to create a sonic journey that is both intense and introspective.
Embodiment Of Death is the band's highly anticipated debut album, a product of countless revisions and refinements. The record was produced and mixed by the talented Stijn van Gestel, with JB van der Wal (Gaerea, Herder, Ortega, Verwoed) handling the mastering. Link
