Swiss trance/symphonic/melodic death metal outfit Rage Of Light announced that they’ve put the band on a hiatus. The band's latest release is Opaque EP, self-released in October 2023. Rage Of Light's latest full-length, Redemption, was released in December 2021.
The band published this announcement: "Dear all, after much reflection, we’ve decided to put Rage Of Light on a hiatus. The past few years have brought personal challenges for all of us, and we’ve realized that we all have different priorities for now. Therefore, rather than continuing in the current band format, we're going to take a step back."
Especially Simon has chosen to scale back his musical commitments, announcing his decision to part ways with the band: “Being part of Rage Of Light has been an incredible experience, and I’ve truly enjoyed creating amazing songs and videos together. However, focusing on a single project and making music on a smaller scale feels like the right direction for me at this point. But of course, I’m excited to see what Jonathan and Martyna will create in the future!”
"It may sound like a cliché you've read a million times with statements like these... but that's truly all there is! Unfortunately, being fully devoted to music while working full-time jobs and having other life commitments is really hard, which can take its toll on mental health. We have done our best to take this band as far as we could, considering the tough reality of the music industry nowadays. Still, we are super proud of what we have achieved and will cherish all the amazing creative moments we've experienced together, especially with our latest release, "Opaque".
"So what does this mean? Martyna and Jonathan might still release new songs together whenever inspiration strikes, much like what Rage Of Light was in the early days, so this is not the end! We're simply letting go of the external and internal pressures and expectations that were hindering our joy and creativity. And who knows, we might come back stronger and brighter as a full band unit again one day. For now, we'd like to thank you for your continued support throughout our journey."
