Mexican black metal band Muerto have shared the second track, "Veil Of Desolation", from their upcoming album, Eclipsed Realms, due on 17 April through Transcending Obscurity Records.
There is something about the rawness of emotions expressed in their pure, undiluted form, and that's probably what's most appealing about this release. Against the backdrop of harrowing, plaintive music are the hollow echoes of an aggrieved, possessed-sounding woman, adding more malice to the music than anything possibly contrived. Over here is something dark, unseemly, insidious, if only by being so naturally real and relatable. The intriguing doom-laden black metal music throbs and twists with a firm grip of the atmosphere pressing down on the listener like a hand to the throat. Muerto's disarmingly direct delivery, masterful juggling of various emotions in an aura of suffocating darkness, and their refreshing rawness in a time of overly processed music make them a band worthy of your attention.
