US dream‑pop duo Magic Wands return with a brand new single, “Diamond Rain”, released via Metropolis Records. Long celebrated for their luminous blend of dream‑pop, shoegaze, post‑punk and goth, the LA‑based pair — Dexy and Chris Valentine — describe the track as intentionally open‑ended. “The song doesn’t have one fixed meaning,” they explain. “To us, it’s about moving toward the light, finding beauty after darkness, and allowing listeners to discover their own meaning within it.”
“Diamond Rain” arrives with a homemade video, crafted using old cameras, lights and mirrors to create shifting textures and prismatic effects that enhance the song’s dreamlike aura.
The single is the first preview of Magic Wands’ new studio album, due in early 2027, and follows their recent EPs Wishing Well and Remixes. Wishing Well included the collaboration “Sacred Mirrors” with John Ashton of The Psychedelic Furs, while Remixes reimagined several tracks from the duo’s acclaimed 2025 album Cascades. Earlier this year, Magic Wands also released their remix of “Swoon” by former Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy — if you missed it, you can revisit it HERE.
With “Diamond Rain”, Magic Wands continue to expand their radiant, nocturnal universe — one where shimmering melancholy meets hopeful ascent. Link
