South African dark pop auteur Hunter As A Horse, the creative vessel of Western Cape–based musician and vocalist Mia van Wyk, unveils the luminous new single “Here’s To All The Ones” — her second release under the banner of Metropolis Records, following her signing with the label just one month ago.
Shimmering with delicate indie‑electronic textures and van Wyk’s unmistakably emotive vocal presence, “Here’s To All The Ones” is a meditation on release, gratitude, and the quiet liberation that comes with choosing peace.
“It is about letting go without bitterness — a deliberate moment of closure that makes space to move forward lighter,” van Wyk explains. The song reflects on past loves in all their forms — romantic, familial, chosen — not with regret, but with appreciation for what was real. Though tinged with melancholy, van Wyk emphasises that the tone is not mournful: “It’s self‑assured and settled. It’s about choosing peace, leaving the door unlocked, and allowing whatever comes next to unfold.”
“Here’s To All The Ones” stands in contrast to the recently released “Lighthouse” (check it out over HERE), a haunting and deeply personal piece that intertwined mythology and psychology within a swirling bed of atmospheric synths and pulsing rhythms. Where “Lighthouse” reached inward toward shadow and introspection, the new single opens outward — a gentle toast to the past and a clear‑eyed step into what lies ahead.
With each release, Hunter As A Horse continues to carve out a distinctive space within the dark pop landscape, blending emotional vulnerability with cinematic sonic craft. Experience “Here’s To All The Ones” below and step into the next chapter of her unfolding journey. Link
