Ethereal darkwave project Ships In The Night, led by the ever‑magnetic Alethea Leventhal, has released a new video for “Inside”, one of the standout tracks from last year’s acclaimed full‑length Protection Spells (Metropolis Records). Known for her unmistakable electronic production style and a voice that drifts between fragility and quiet power, Leventhal continues to shape a sonic world where dark pop becomes both intimate confession and widescreen dreamscape.
“Inside” is a study in contrasts — stillness and tension, vulnerability and resolve, the soft pulse of introspection wrapped in shimmering electronic textures. The new video deepens this duality, offering a symbolic journey through metamorphosis: creatures emerging from shells, plants unfurling, life pushing forward in slow, deliberate bloom. It’s a visual language of becoming, of finding form in a world that rarely stands still.
Leventhal describes the track as a search for grounding in uncertain times. “This song is about looking for feelings of safety and comfort in a world that is out of our control,” she explains. “It’s about finding places where you can just exist and be yourself. It’s about nurturing community, lifting up queer spaces and reaching for utopia.”
With “Inside”, Ships In The Night once again proves why Leventhal’s work resonates so deeply within the darkwave and electronic underground: it is music that shelters, music that transforms, and music that dares to imagine a gentler world. Link
