Legendary Canadian electronic-pop project Delerium, the acclaimed duo of Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber, have joined forces with dream pop outfit Magic Wands for their captivating new single, “Dream Palace.” The track serves as the latest preview of Delerium’s forthcoming studio album, Exaudire, scheduled for release on 22 January 2027 via Metropolis Records.
Blending Delerium’s signature atmospheric soundscapes with Magic Wands’ ethereal dream pop sensibilities, “Dream Palace” unfolds as a hypnotic journey through shimmering textures, haunting melodies, and immersive sonic landscapes. The collaboration emerged organically, with Magic Wands drawing inspiration directly from the music they received from Delerium.
"The music Delerium sent us put us in a trance and we listened to it repeatedly to see how we could complement it," explains Dexy Valentine of Magic Wands. "We came up with some guitar and a vocal melody, while lyrically I went with the dreamy feeling the song was giving me. The words were inspired by the music and also the end scene of Contact, a ’90s film based on a Carl Sagan novel."
Accompanying the single is a visually striking music video created by Shahrnaz Nancy Southwick in collaboration with Magic Wands. Expanding on the song’s dreamlike atmosphere, the video embraces themes of mystery, transformation, and alternate realities.
"The imagery for it captures a more mystical dimension of the song and is about a girl opening a wooden box. As she looks into it she finds herself in a parallel universe," Valentine reveals.
“Dream Palace” follows the release of “Into The Light” (check it out HERE), another track from Exaudire. That earlier single notably incorporated elements from “Deliver Me From Mine Enemies: IV. Ε Ξελόυ Mε [Deliver Me]”, written, performed, and owned by the pioneering American avant-garde artist Diamanda Galás, originally featured on her landmark 1986 album The Divine Punishment.
With “Dream Palace”, Delerium continue to showcase the rich sonic palette and collaborative spirit that have defined their enduring career. The track offers a tantalising glimpse into Exaudire, an album that promises to further expand the project's cinematic blend of electronic, ambient, and dream-infused pop aesthetics. Link
