Electro‑industrial formation Damage Control expands its cross‑continental creative network with the release of Red Lines, a new three‑track EP out now via Metropolis Records. The project’s core lineup - Bill Barsby, Richard Thacker, and Alex Wise in Australia, together with Markus App in Germany - continues to refine its hybrid of metallic electronics, atmospheric tension, and collaborative experimentation.
The EP marks another chapter in Damage Control’s ongoing partnership with Canadian duo OHMelectronic, comprised of Chris Peterson (Unit:187, Front Line Assembly, Delerium, Decree) and Craig Huxtable (Noise Unit, Landscape Body Machine). After releasing two albums in the 2010s, OHMelectronic has recently reactivated, bringing renewed energy into the studio sessions that shaped Red Lines.
The title track stands as the EP’s thematic centrepiece. “Red Lines is about psychological warfare, the endless cycle of human conflict and the hunger for power that lies in the hearts of men,” explains Huxtable. “While the lyrics were inspired by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the same themes haunt America and its global conflicts. As tyranny and the fog of war repeat through every age, so too does the hope that we learn from our mistakes.”
Alongside the title track, the EP features “Manifesto” — previously released as a single in July (check it out over HERE) — and “Modernity”, both continuing the group’s exploration of socio‑political tension through dense electronics and layered production. Peterson, a long‑time collaborator since Damage Control’s 2017 debut Ultranoia, produced the EP, while mastering was handled by Greg Reely (Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory), reinforcing the release’s connection to the upper echelon of Canadian industrial sound design.
Red Lines follows the June EP Master Of Silence, a four‑track collaboration with Danish icon Leæther Strip (Claus Larsen), further demonstrating Damage Control’s commitment to international partnerships and evolving sonic identities.
