The electro‑industrial unit Damage Control has returned with a brand new single, “Oblivion”, a track that deepens their signature blend of atmospheric tension and precision‑engineered heaviness. The project’s core lineup — Bill Barsby, Richard Thacker, and Alex Wise in Australia, together with Markus App in Germany — continues to draw on a cross‑continental creative pulse. Barsby and Thacker, both originally from Birmingham, England, bring decades of industrial lineage into the project’s evolving sound.
“Oblivion” marks the group’s second recent collaboration with Danish icon Leæther Strip (Claus Larsen), whose unmistakable vocal presence cuts through the track’s dense electronic architecture. Built on custom Kemper‑driven guitar textures and layered synth atmospheres, the single aims for introspection and emotional gravity rather than brute force.
The production team reinforces that ambition: Chris Peterson (Front Line Assembly, Noise Unit, Unit:187) handles production, while Greg Reely (Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory) provides engineering — a pairing synonymous with the highest calibre of Canadian industrial sound design.
The new single follows January’s “Rage”, also featuring Leæther Strip. Reflecting on the collaboration, Barsby noted their long‑standing admiration for Larsen’s work since the early ’90s club era: “We’ve always loved Leæther Strip and were curious to hear what the combination of our song, Claus’ vocal, and Chris’ production would sound like.”
Damage Control’s collaborative spirit has been central to their identity since their well‑received 2017 debut Ultranoia, which featured contributions from artists across the globe. That approach continues on their long‑awaited follow‑up album Oblivion Grid, with further details to be revealed soon. Peterson and Reely remain key figures behind the console for the new record as well. “Oblivion” is available now. Link
