Greek gothic rock formation Blossom Death return with their new single and video “Morning After”, taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Spirit, due 21 May via The Circle Music. The track dives deep into the psychological fallout that follows a personal collapse — the moment when everything breaks, and the truth beneath finally surfaces.
According to the band, “Morning After” revolves around the idea that “when your soul hits its lowest point, then and only then, your real core can be exposed.” That sentiment shapes both the song’s emotional weight and its lyrical direction, which confronts addiction, deception, and the harsh clarity that arrives in the aftermath of self‑destruction.
Musically, the single showcases Blossom Death’s signature interplay between heavy, driving riffs and the atmospheric dual vocals of Kostas “Corax” Katoikos and Marita Makaronidi. Their contrasting voices amplify the track’s central themes — the “affection of shame”, the pull of self‑undoing, and the fragile search for redemption through pain.
Formed in late 2018 in Varkiza, Greece, Blossom Death emerged from the creative vision of former Sorrowful Angels frontman and lyricist Kostas “Corax” Katoikos, joined by Makaronidi and drummer Argy Deligianopoulos. After introducing themselves with the 2019 EP Mistaken, the band spent the following years expanding their line‑up and refining a sound that merges weighty guitar work with melodic, atmospheric textures. In 2023, they released the split EP Eon Must Fail with In Burial, further sharpening their identity.
Their upcoming full‑length Spirit marks a decisive step forward — a collection built on emotional volatility, dynamic contrasts, and a deeper exploration of transformation. The album leans into the tension between introspective darkness and high‑intensity instrumentation, capturing Blossom Death’s evolution into a band unafraid to expose the rawest corners of the human psyche.
With “Morning After”, Blossom Death offer a stark, compelling preview of what Spirit promises: a debut shaped by vulnerability, weight, and the relentless pull toward the truth beneath the ruin. Link
