Post-punk/gothic rockers Whispers In The Shadow today released their 12th full-length, Rapture, via Icy Cold Records. To celebrate the album's release, the band offered a video for the "Illusions Of Grandeur" track, which dives deep into the madness of self-deception and the fragile mask of power. Lyrically sharp and sonically brooding, the song channels the archetype of the Mad King - a figure both tragic and terrifying, consumed by his own grandeur, isolated by suspicion, and spiralling toward ruin. The tarot card, the King, turned upside down indeed. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. "Illusions Of Grandeur" is an anthem for a world teetering on the edge of its own self-created madness. "Long live the King, the King is dead!"
Whispers In The Shadow will, tomorrow, 7 June, perform at Wave Gotik Treffen. More info about Rapture is HERE. Link
