Finnish melodic metal outfit Unén have unveiled "Love Story", the latest single from their forthcoming album, revealing a more restrained yet deeply evocative side of the band's evolving sound.
Following the explosive energy of their previous release, "Dancing In Flames", Unén take a different approach with their newest offering. While the song embraces a slower pace and a stronger focus on melody, its emotional impact remains every bit as powerful, proving that intensity is not always measured in sheer heaviness.
Reflecting on the creative direction behind the track, the band explains: "Our previous single, 'Dancing In Flames', was a kind of release of energy for us – a heavy rock track that really went full throttle. With 'Love Story', we wanted to do something completely different. We deliberately decided to slow things down and give more room to melody and the story itself. We wanted to create a really tight, concise track with all the excess stripped away – every second and every word has a purpose."
That sense of purpose carries throughout both the song and its accompanying music video, which stars Unén vocalist Stina Girs. Beneath its atmospheric exterior lies a timeless tale of devotion that transcends mortality itself.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Girs reveals: "I've always been fascinated by the idea that somewhere out there, the right person is waiting for me – someone I've already loved in a previous life. The wait may last for years or even until the next lifetime, but when we finally meet, there's no doubt that we recognise each other. 'Love Story' is a vampire romance. A love that lasts from one life and era to the next, forever."
Since welcoming Girs into the fold in 2023, Unén have continued to build momentum, most notably with the release of their debut album, Forever Winter, via Frontiers Music Srl. With new material already taking shape, the band are now setting their sights on the next chapter, including a new studio album and a series of live appearances planned for 2027.
"Love Story" showcases Unén's ability to balance cinematic storytelling with memorable melodies, offering a haunting and romantic glimpse into what lies ahead. Link
