Tulus have confirmed 27 March as the release date for their eighth album, Morbid Desires, which Darkness Shall Rise Productions will issue on CD, vinyl, and cassette.
To mark the announcement, Tulus unveil the first single/lyric video, "Salme II", continuing the saga begun with the much‑loved "Salme" from their 1999 album Evil 1999. Salme is a farewell psalm for The Collector, a morbid and mysterious figure of the forest. "Salme II" echoes his existence through a new ritual unfolding in his dark cave, where torches are quenched and rekindled. The song delivers pure Norwegian black metal, steeped in atmosphere and brimming with raw, blackened energy.
Hellishly catchy Norwegian darkness: 35 years after their formation, the Oslo‑based trio remain as potent as ever and return with a new full‑length. Just three years after its predecessor, Fandens kall, the notorious three‑piece present their eighth album, Morbid Desires, which Darkness Shall Rise are proud to release.
Staying true to their path, Morbid Desires comprises nine tracks that uphold the unmistakable Tulus sound. A wealth of razor‑sharp, irresistibly catchy riffs shaped into concise mid‑tempo compositions, delivered by seasoned musicians and crowned by Blodstrup's grim vocals, remain the band's defining hallmarks.
Yet Morbid Desires is far from a one‑dimensional record. Faster passages, beautifully chanted vocals, flamenco and acoustic guitar flourishes, among other elements woven into various tracks, lend the album considerable variety. "Sabbat", the closing piece and by far the longest, stands out in particular. Conceived as an unmistakable tribute to Black Sabbath, it is nothing short of remarkable and highlights the exceptional musicianship of the members of Tulus. Link
