Danish doom/death metal quartet Konvent has released "Firesky", the second single and title track from its forthcoming third studio album, Firesky, due out on 6 November via Napalm Records.
The new track further showcases the band's evolving artistry, balancing crushing heaviness with moments of striking clarity. Moving effortlessly between abyssal doom-laden passages and luminous clean sections, "Firesky" highlights Konvent's ability to create compelling contrasts within their dark and imposing soundscapes. Following a successful tour with Zeal & Ardor and appearances at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Copenhell, the upcoming album sees the Danish four-piece pushing its creative boundaries further than ever before.
Comprising just five compositions, Firesky demonstrates that sheer impact often outweighs quantity. The album's songs are notably longer than anything the band has previously released, allowing Konvent to fully explore the depth and dynamics of its sombre arrangements. While firmly rooted in the death/doom metal foundations that established the band's reputation, Firesky also embraces stronger black metal influences, widening its sonic palette without sacrificing its crushing intensity.
With its ambitious songwriting and willingness to experiment, the album marks a significant step forward for the band. Rather than falling victim to the often-cited challenges of a third album, Konvent appears to have transformed them into an opportunity for reinvention and artistic growth.
Speaking about the new single, the band commented: "'Firesky' is a celebration of female and queer communities lifting each other up in a world of adversity and burning down every deep-rooted threat to our existence. Joining us on 'Firesky' is Mai Soon Young Øvlisen of Meejah."
With its powerful message, expansive songwriting, and devastating weight, "Firesky" offers an enticing preview of what may be Konvent's most adventurous and accomplished release to date.
