Irish post-punk outfit Slyrydes have unveiled their latest single, “Gatekeepers”, a sharp and uncompromising track that continues the momentum built by their July 2026 standalone release, “One Is Too Many”.

While retaining the band's trademark intensity, “Gatekeepers” signals a shift towards a more refined, studio-driven sound, moving beyond the raw live energy that defined their earlier recordings. The result is a punchy and focused post-punk statement that pairs urgency with precision.

Lyrically, the song confronts what the band describes as the widespread cronyism embedded within Irish arts funding and, more broadly, public funding structures across Irish society. With its direct message and driving instrumentation, “Gatekeepers” channels frustration into a pointed critique of institutional favouritism and unequal opportunity.

The single was produced by longtime collaborator Dan Doherty of Dublin's Darklands Audio Studio, whose production credits include work with Fontaines D.C., Denzel Curry, Hope Sandoval, and The Jesus And Mary Chain. In a notable development, Doherty has also joined Slyrydes as the band's drummer, further strengthening a creative partnership that has played a key role in shaping the group's sound.

Mastering duties were handled by Pete Maher, renowned for his work with artists including U2, The Killers, and Noel Gallagher. Link
