The USA-based post-black metal band Chrome Waves will release its first live album, Lost Horizon - Live 1/5/2024, on 7 June through Disorder Recordings. Alongside the live album announcement, the band shared the record's opening track, "When Night Falls".
The show was recorded at the long-running Syracuse, New York venue Lost Horizon on 5 January, on Chrome Waves' short Northeastern tour kicking off the new year.
Chrome Waves' lineup for the show included founding member Jeff Wilson (Deeper Graves, Contrition, ex-Nachtmystium) on guitar, Zion Meagher (Anti-Human Thesis, ex-Nachtmystium) on bass, James Benson (Amiensus, Comatose) on guitar and vocals, and Garry Naples (Without Waves, Novembers Doom, Contrition) on drums. The set included six songs spanning five albums, including "When Night Falls" and "Wind Blown" from The Rain Will Cleanse, "New Skin" from Where We Live, "Under The Weight Of A Billion Souls" from The Earth Will Shed Its Skin, "When The Sun Hits" from The Cold Light Of Despair, and "Past The Lights" from A Grief Observed.
Lost Horizon – Live 1/5/2024 was engineered/recorded by Brent Walts, the songs mixed and mastered by Jeff Wilson, and the record was completed with photography by Jeffrey Beaulieu and design by Wilson.
Wilson states: "I've been a fan of live albums since I was a kid, from the raw punk attitude of Nirvana's early bootlegs to the enchanting atmosphere of Emperor's Emperial Live Ceremony, and not to compare us by any means, but I'd like to think that Chrome Waves rides the line somewhere between those two. Lost Horizon was my first chance to oversee the production of a live performance and the result is beyond my expectations".
Following several new singles released last year, Chrome Waves will follow the impending live album with additional new singles this year as they continue to write their next album. Link
