The Swiss one‑man force behind Black Reuss is preparing to unleash Death, the fourth chapter in his existential metal saga, on 27 February via Golden Robot Records. The album follows the brooding first single “Oblivion”, with the second single “Endgame” arriving on 13 February—both serving as ominous gateways into the album’s shadow‑laden world.
Black Reuss, the brainchild of multi‑instrumentalist and sonic architect Maurizio Dottore, continues to carve out a singular path in the gothic metal landscape. Named after the Swiss river whose relentless flow mirrors the cycles of human existence, the project transforms life’s darker currents into immersive, melancholic soundscapes. With Death, Dottore plunges deeper than ever into themes of dissolution, judgment, rebirth, and the fragile persistence of hope.
Heavier, more atmospheric, and emotionally unflinching, Death marks a new creative peak. Dottore handles the writing, composition, performance, and production with meticulous precision, joined by drummer Diego Rapacchietti and mixer Roberto Macis, whose contributions sharpen the album’s dramatic edge.
“This album dives into the place where identity dissolves and truth becomes quiet,” Dottore explains. “Death isn’t an ending—it’s a passage. A deeper flow beneath the surface. I want listeners to feel that current and eventually bring it to life on stage.”
Black Reuss’ journey has been one of constant metamorphosis: the turbulent awakening of Metamorphosis (2021), the introspective path of Journey (2022), the clarity of Arrival (2023), and now Death (2026), where the river sinks into its darkest depths only to emerge renewed. This latest chapter promises a profound emotional descent—one that fans of Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, and Black Sabbath will find impossible to resist. Link
