Polish dark/folk metal band Źrenice have today released their debut full-length, Śnienie.
The band comment: "The binding element of 'Dreaming' is the forest topos, which appears here and there, but it doesn't constitute any specific concept. In the intro and outro of the album, footsteps can be heard, which are supposed to allow the listener to mentally transport themselves to an isolated place, and therefore suitable for listening, but ultimately it depends solely on the listener whether it will be a forest per se. After all, it's just ordinary dreaming, from which one will have to wake up sooner or later. The lyrics partially refer to motifs taken from fairy tales, although their main subject remains the human being himself, and also directly the relationships between people".
The music for Śnienie was recorded by Krzysztof Godycki at Studio Roslyn (Mord’A’Stigmata). Mixing and mastering were handled by Haldor Grunberg at Satanic Audio (Behemoth, Dom Zły, Entropia, Terrestrial Hospice, Hostia), while Emilia Mróz created the album's cover artwork.
The concept behind Źrenice emerged in June 2022, immediately after the final concert of the previous band formed by four of the group's current members. Choosing to close that chapter and begin anew, the band spent the following months shaping the instrumental foundations of what would become their debut album, Śnienie, while searching for the right voice to complete their sound. In 2024, vocalist Kamila joined the band, her arrival giving fresh momentum to the creative process. Link
