Darkwave/dark alternative rock act Veljanov has premiered the compelling noir video for "Nomos Shanderilan", the first advance track lifted from his forthcoming fourth studio album, Shanderilan, which arrives on 15 January 2027 through Prophecy Productions.

Commenting on the single, Alexander Veljanov shared: "'Nomos Shanderilan' is the first advance single taken from my new album Shanderilan. The song is composed as a musical ride through various genres that are becoming united by the wholly distinctive sound of the 'Veljanov cosmos'. The title is meant as a call to resist attempts to shred our free, democratic values and principles, and to defy the power-hungry enemies of democracy!"

The new record, Shanderilan, impresses with its richly layered arrangements, exceptional songwriting, and, naturally, Veljanov's unmistakable dark and seductive vocal delivery. Moments of refined beauty seamlessly transform into barely concealed anger, descending into hypnotic darkness before rising into epic, anthem-like passages.

The album's outstanding production stems from a close creative partnership between Alexander Veljanov and Goran Trajkoski. The acclaimed Macedonian composer has penned more than 100 film and theatre scores, including music for the Oscar-nominated Before The Rain by director Milčo Mančevski, which received the prestigious Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Trajkoski is also Veljanov's official guitarist.

Throughout Shanderilan, substance consistently takes precedence over style. Few musicians can blend country-inspired foundations with rock dynamics and synthesiser-driven textures as effortlessly as Veljanov does on the opening piece "Nomos Shanderilan".

The album's title, Shanderilan, a made-up name, refers to an imagined dystopian realm where freedoms and rights have been stripped away. This concept, together with the stark reminder that humanist values must never be taken for granted and always require protection, runs like a thread throughout the entire record.
