Luxembourgish electro-punk duo The X has dropped the "Freak" single/video from its upcoming EP, The World Is Burning, Let's Dance, scheduled for release on 22 April.
The X on "Freak": "Sometimes you just feel like an outsider, a misfit, a freak. We've all been there. In times gone by, individuals that appeared in circus sideshows were called 'freaks'. So, given the current the status quo of our society, we're basically all freaks!"
If The X was a character in a cyberpunk movie, you'd find it amidst the smoky haze of a late-night after-hour club, dancing their way through a world both euphoric and melancholic.
The duo's first EP, Some Beautiful Things Come from Dark Places, released on 9 June 2023, seamlessly blends the futuristic and nostalgic within its trip-pop domain. Now, on the precipice of its next sonic chapter, The X is poised to premiere its second EP, The World Is Burning, Let's Dance, in the live arena on 13 April at Kulturfabrik Esch before a wide release on 22 April. This forthcoming instalment promises a musical evolution - a weightier, more intense, socio-critical tone while retaining its inherent danceable essence.
Prepare for an immersive dive into a world where music catalyses change, amplifies expression, and beckons you to dance amidst societal upheavals. The X invites you to experience its sonic revolution. Link
