Finnish one-man Nordic folk act Sielue presents "Marrasaamun kyyneleet", the third single and music video from the upcoming album, Askel tyhjyyteen, set for release on 23 May via Nordvis Produktion. A solemn dawn breaks. Rain washes over the land. Footsteps of the fallen echo through time.
"Marrasaamun kyyneleet" ('A Dead November Morning's Tears') is a tribute to those who gave everything – their lives, their health, their very souls – so that future generations could stand in freedom. Inspired by Finland's struggle for independence through two world wars, the song carries a deeply personal weight, honouring the sacrifices of the artist's own grandfather, who endured the horrors of the frontlines and captivity.
Driven by an unyielding pulse, the song builds with grim determination, rising into a chorus of defiant euphoria. As the refrain bursts forth, the weight of history falls away – the shackles are broken, and the song of a free land rings out. A searing guitar solo takes flight, a voice beyond words, carrying the spirit of those who stood tall and refused to bow.
There is no politics here – only reverence for those who endured and gratitude for those who toiled beyond the battlefield. Finland rose from the ashes, not by miracle, but through relentless struggle.
"Marrasaamun kyyneleet" is a song of resilience, of a people who would not kneel, and of the unbreakable will that carried them forward.
Janne Posti comments: "The video was created by my friend Ludvig Swärd, whose artistic eye and sense for symbolism brought out the deeper layers of the song. It enhances the emotion already present in the music, and it was a true pleasure to collaborate with him in this form as well. Shot in late November – the same time of year the Winter War began – the video explores contrasts between light and darkness, solitude and grandeur, humanity and the wilderness. The torch symbolises our duty to carry the legacy of those who came before us. We must never let Finland's spirit fade."

"It's a dark album. According to me, it's the darkest yet in our discography. It's also very suggestive, very introverted, less direct, and might be less friendly..." - Daniel Moilanen
