Italian melancholic dark/doom metal force Shores Of Null return with their most ambitious work yet. The new album Homesick arrives on 16 October via Dusktone, marking another defining chapter for a band long praised for its distinctive blend of sorrow, weight, and melodic depth.
The first single, “Bleed To Life”, is now available, accompanied by an official video you can watch below.
Following the acclaimed The Loss Of Beauty, Shores Of Null push their sound further with a record built on maturity and precision. Homesick features ten carefully crafted tracks, each shaped by refined arrangements, streamlined structures, and subtle details that reveal themselves over repeated listens. It also boasts the strongest production in the band’s history, amplifying the contrast at the heart of their style — music steeped in melancholy yet capable of erupting with intensity and emotional elevation.
Frontman Davide Straccione describes the album as both familiar and forward‑moving: “Those who loved The Loss Of Beauty won’t be disappointed. Homesick brings something fresh without compromising our sound.”
Conceived as a complete listening experience, Homesick moves through longing, loss, anger, vulnerability, and the search for belonging. Its lyrical themes revolve around nostalgia, absence, and the many meanings of “home” — not just a place, but a memory, a wound, or a version of oneself left behind.
The album was shaped through an extensive pre‑production process with producer Marco “Cinghio” Mastrobuono, whose guidance helped refine every detail. Recorded at Bloom Recording Studios, Homesick also features special guest appearances: Natalie Koskinen (Shape Of Despair) on “The Numbing Void” and Shaun MacGowan (My Dying Bride), whose violin enriches “Dreaming Of A Scar” and “The Numbing Void.”
Shores Of Null stand fully consolidated within the melodic death/doom realm — and Homesick shows a band still evolving, still reaching deeper. Link
