Ritual folk duo Nytt Land has unveiled the video single "Hoge Yage (The Ritual Of The Path)" from its impending album, Songs Of The Shaman, due on 16 May via Prophecy Productions.
Nytt Land's throat singer and multi-instrumentalist, Anatoly Pakhalenko, on the new video single: "The ritual song 'Hoge Yage' precedes a shamanic rite and opens the way. For a successful ritual-journey, a shaman needs not only to handle the spirits with great skill, but it is also important how he begins his journey. Opening rites, also called White Road rites, are an important element of Siberian traditional shamanism that have survived to this day. A rite containing protective spells and spells for a clean and successful path are very important in any endeavor, and such songs are still used as talismans before starting some important business among the indigenous peoples of Siberia".
