German dark electro/darkwave newcomers Nachtschleife step into the spotlight with their debut single “Microgram”, a tense and immersive track that confronts medication dependency, emotional numbness, and the fragile search for stability in an increasingly overwhelmed society.
Formed by Stephanie Abromeit (Beffibelle), Bernd Abromeit (Tonschleifer), and Ulf Müller (Projekt Ich, The Grab Society, SMOTCH, M.U.N.T Connection, Tränenwelten, U.M. Fiedel), Nachtschleife emerged from a chain of collaborative remix projects that gradually crystallised into a standalone creative force. Their sound is unmistakably dark, electronic, and atmospheric — a fusion shaped by experience, experimentation, and a shared fascination with the psychological undercurrents of modern life.
“Microgram” draws inspiration from the ongoing public debate surrounding psychiatric medication and the increasingly casual use of prescription drugs. Rather than moralising, the track offers a stark artistic reflection: a world where emotional crises are often met with pills instead of patience, therapy, compassion, or genuine human connection. It’s a portrait of dependency painted in cold light — intimate, uncomfortable, and deeply human.
Musically, the single blends driving electronic rhythms, industrial‑tinged textures, and dense, shadowed atmospheres, anchored by a commanding vocal performance. The result is a potent hybrid of darkwave, dark electro, and industrial — intense enough to provoke thought, yet spacious enough to let listeners find their own meaning within its layers.
The release arrives with an official animated music video, expanding the track’s bleak aesthetic into a visual narrative that amplifies its emotional weight. With “Microgram”, Nachtschleife deliver a confident first statement and open the door to a creative journey aimed at exploring the darker, more uncomfortable corners of contemporary existence. Link
