Madrid (Spain)-based post-black metal band Murmur released a new epic track and video, "Red Hill III: The Calling". It's taken from the upcoming album, Red Hill, which will be released on 6 November. Red Hill was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Víctor Saiz at California Studios. Murmur's new concept album continues in the vein of Pvtrefactio, their first opus, with lyrics full of occult and ritualistic metaphors that address social issues, thus offering a profound critique of the contemporary world.
Once again, the dark and enveloping atmosphere that defines their music, which we could place between post-black metal and blackgaze, with atmospheric black metal and some doom and progressive touches, is the perfect vehicle to channel the symbolism and mysticism conveyed by this work.
Murmur comments: “Red Hill is the vindication of a very specific place within our city and our land, exposing passages of its history and all the oblivion that rests upon it. Furthermore, it is an intimate retrospective through different eras and historical events, which takes the temple and monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as its central element and, in turn, as a catalyst for pain and hatred. Referring to the brief name Cerro Rojo, adopted by Cerro de los Ángeles in 1936, Red Hill explores the direct relationship of power exercised jointly by the upper echelons of the Church and Franco’s dictatorship, without leaving behind the alchemical references already exposed in the previous work, Pvtrefactio."
With a cover by Azahara G. Martínez based on the photographic work of Fred J. Segado, Red Hill consists of three broad musical movements that find beauty through darkness, achieving excellence with their marked transcendental character. This is an album that appeals to all five senses and brims with talent, sure to fascinate fans of Amenra, Deafheaven, Harakiri For The Sky, Agalloch, or Mgła.
The cinematic video for "Red Hill III: The Calling" was directed by Azahara G. Martínez & Lorenzo Ayuso. Link
