Greek black metal band Decipher have unleashed a beautifully shot video single, "Hail Death", taken from their impending full‑length, ΘΕΛΗΜΑ (Thelema), slated for release next Friday, 20 March, by Transcending Obscurity Records. The epic eight‑minute track embodies the core values of Greek black metal, weaving dissonant textures with subtly melodic undercurrents.
Decipher's previous album, Arcane Paths To Resurrection, was a sublime work: steely, composed, and enriched with melodic undertones. It delivered a timeless strain of black metal inspired by the genre's classic era, yet never felt dated. Two years on, the Greeks return with a new opus that expands upon the foundations laid by its predecessor, adding greater nuance and structure while preserving the band's signature sound and appeal. With more room for expression, the songs stretch further, adopting a narrative quality without straying from the core aesthetic.
The riffs are drenched in emotions without being overtly melodic, as the music marches ahead resolutely with its steely demeanour. It is black metal with its priorities firmly in place — driven by riffs, feeling, intensity, and passion. Link
