Romanian atmospheric black metal entity Argus Megere returns with their first new album in six years, Cerburea apusului. Loud Rage Music will release the band's fifth full-length record on 10 December.
The album was recorded primarily at Consonance Studio by Andrei Jumuga and Sol Faur (Dordeduh), with guitar sessions completed at Ras Alhage Studio by Fulmineos. Mixing and mastering duties were handled at Consonance Studio by Andrei Jumuga, while Alexandru Daș took care of the artwork and design.
As a first taste of what the album has to offer, the band has unveiled "Iarba-fiarelor", a monumental 17-minute composition.
The band comments: "The album's title refers to a place hidden deep within the dark forests of the Carpathian Mountains, seen at twilight. It captures a moment of powerful communion between the wild nature within us and the vast, untamed world outside. The first song we wish to reveal, 'Iarba-fiarelor', is one of the most complex pieces we have ever created. It weaves together the raw, atmospheric black metal of our early roots with new shades of post-rock and traditional rural ambience, sounds that grew naturally from the environment where this music was born. The presence of Bogdan Luparu (Bucovina) on vocals and Andrei Oltean (E-an-na) performing traditional instruments (xylophone, flute, kaval, toacă), along with additional vocals throughout the album, adds a sacred, ancestral depth. Their contributions elevate the entire work, enriching its patriarchal, archaic atmosphere. Yes, we are aware that 'Iarba-fiarelor' is long by today's standards, but we do not write music for hurried attention spans. This is meant to be a spiritual journey, one that asks for time, presence, and a return toward the inner self, far from the frantic pace and fifteen-second focus of the modern world". Link
