German darkwave band The SlimP is back with a striking new track, "Nothing To Forget", marking its first official single in 16 years. Renowned for its moody atmospheres and emotionally charged soundscapes, this comeback is not just a nostalgic echo - it's a bold step forward into a new era of creativity.
Lead singer Elisa Day described the recording process as "tremendous fun", noting that it "gave more energy than it took away", suggesting that the band's chemistry remains intact. "It reminded us", she continued, "that music is often more than the sum of its parts". This synergy is palpable in the new track, which blends their signature darkwave elements with a refreshed sound that remains true to their roots.
Fans of The SlimP can rejoice: this isn't a one-off return. The band has announced additional releases for late summer, promising a wave of new material that builds on their legacy while exploring new sonic territory. With "Nothing To Forget" as a powerful reintroduction, The SlimP is looking to the future with purpose and passion.
The SlimP was formed in 2003; the founding members, Elisa Day (vocals, bass), Mart (bass, vocals) and Bernd (guitar), are completed by Julius on drums. Known for its unique use of two bass guitars and a blend of female and male vocals, the band creates a deep, dark, and atmospheric sound. Its debut album, Masquerade, was released in 2004, followed by Some Seconds Later in 2005, both of which showed strong influences from early The Cure. In 2008, The SlimP re-released both albums in remastered form as Recall 2003–2005 through the internet label afmusic. Their third studio album, Wavelands, was released in 2009 through afmusic and Danse Macabre, showcasing a more mature and compact sound.
Drawing inspiration from bands like Siouxsie And The Banshees, Phillip Boa And The Voodooclub, and Fields Of The Nephilim, The SlimP blends darkwave, post-punk, and alternative influences into its unmistakable sound, characterised by gloomy, emotional lyrics.
After nearly 15 years of absence from the stage, The SlimP is now back. During this break, they continuously wrote new material and rehearsed together and are now slowly returning to live performances, most recently playing an intimate "Garden Concert". More new activities are already on the horizon. Link
