Australian–Finnish dark progressive gothic metal collective The Eternal is set to unveil its new EP, Celestial, on 16 January 2026, via Reigning Phoenix Music. To herald its arrival, the band have released the video single "It All Ends", a brooding and cinematic first glimpse into their latest chapter.
"It All Ends" unfurls like a storm on the horizon—slow, deliberate, and unrelenting. The track weaves together towering riffs, shadowed melodies, and a vocal performance that oscillates between whispered intimacy and monumental force. Its dynamic rise culminates in an epic finale, underscoring The Eternal’s gift for sculpting heavy music with a distinctly cinematic edge.
Frontman Mark Kelson (vocals/guitars), who also directed and edited the video, describes the song as a stark meditation on betrayal and disillusionment. Through imagery of "empty words" and "broken shards", the lyrics capture the collapse of trust and the futility of promises stripped of meaning. The refrain "it all ends" becomes a mantra of inevitability, while storm-laden metaphors mirror the emotional chaos beneath the surface. The result is a piece that resonates with suffocating loss and the inescapable weight of fractured communication.
With Kelson and guitarist Richie Poate based in Melbourne, and Jan Rechberger (Amorphis) on drums alongside Niclas Etelävuori (ex‑Amorphis/Flat Earth) on bass in Helsinki, The Eternal embodies a truly international collaboration. Celestial promises to deliver both to long-time followers and newcomers alike—a potent fusion of gothic melancholy, progressive finesse, and unflinching intensity. Link
