German gothic rock band Sweet Ermengarde has announced that they will release the third full-length entitled Sacrifice on 12 April as a digital edition via Trisol Music Group, and on 18 April physical release will follow via Solar Lodge. Sacrifice is the first album with the new singer Drew Freeman and represents in every respect another milestone in the band's 13-year history.
The developments on a personnel level more than do justice to the ongoing urge for musical development. A further step in the band's continuous creative process can be heard in the new album Sacrifice. The musicians' different influences merge into an intense trip on which you experience both the dark, melancholic side of the band and powerful, melodic passages.
Sacrifice features well-known guest musicians, Nino Sable (Aeon Sable), Chris Milden (NFD) and Caroline Blind (Sunshine Blind). The spectrum ranges from slow gothic rock, like in the opener “Fragments”, to catchy grooves, which also do justice to the band’s post-punk and wave influences, to almost metal-like outbursts in the explosive “Embers Fall”. The 13 new songs on Sacrifice are supposed to captivate die-hard fans and new listeners alike. The beautiful front cover artwork was created by Billy Phobia. Link
