Sweden's Solus Rex, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Peter Svensson, is set to release its debut EP, The Duellist's Monologue, on 9 September via Obelisk Polaris Productions.
This project, developed over many years, embraces the essence of old-school death and doom metal. The EP comprises four haunting tracks that delve into themes of Weltschmerz, the loss of imagination, and the agony of creative arts. With influences drawn from early Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Winter, and Mourning Beloveth, the EP promises to be a rich and immersive experience for fans of the genre.
Peter Svensson, known for his work with Void Moon, Assassin's Blade, Anchorite, and ex-Goatess, has meticulously crafted The Duellist's Monologue to capture the raw emotion and atmospheric depth that define Solus Rex. The EP features deep, melodic riffs and introspective lyrics that invite listeners into a world of despair and resilience. Link
