French post-punk/coldwave act Neurasthenic, a project crafted by Sébastien George, who previously played a pivotal role in the artist collective North Pope, is about to release the debut album entitled Life Of Pain in October. The album which will be out via SwissDarkNights, offers a dark and immersive exploration of human suffering and existential dread. The album’s sound is deeply influenced by seminal post-punk and coldwave acts such as The Sound, The Chameleons, Joy Division, White Rose Transmission, Bauhaus, Molchat Doma, and Interpol. These influences weave through the album, creating a sonic tapestry that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
The album features diverse contributions from various artists like Night Train To Nowhere, Sylvain L. Daems (DÆMS, Frederik Franklin & Fwends), Carlo Van Putten (The Convent, White Rose Transmission, Dead Guitars), Mark Freeth (Ausgang), and North Pope, each bringing their own lyrical interpretations of pain and introspection, resulting in a multi-layered sonic experience. From the eerie tones of "Routine" to the intense power of "Pitch Black", Neurasthenic's debut full-length Life Of Pain blends coldwave soundscapes, brooding basslines, and atmospheric elements, all enhanced by the distinct influences of the guest artists.
The visual representation of Life Of Pain mirrors its haunting musical themes. The front cover, featuring artwork by Robert Carter, captures the album’s desolation and inner turmoil with striking imagery. Neurasthenic is a studio project, meticulously crafted within Sébastien's home studio to achieve its distinctive coldwave sound. There will be no live performances in support of Life Of Pain.
Two tracks were released at the beginning of September, and three music videos accompany the release of Neurasthenic's debut Life Of Pain. Link
