Slovenian artists Martina Testen / Simon Šerc have released Nokturno (through Pharmafabrik) - a 60-minute field recording album that immerses listeners in the mysterious soundscapes of the night. Recorded over ten years, the authors spent countless nights in the forest capturing frogs, nocturnal beetles, owls, stags, wolves, and other voices of the nocturnal world. Divided into eight chapters, the album traces the natural arc from fading daylight to the first light of morning.
Following their acclaimed record Biodukt (2020), which explored the rhythm of the day, Nokturno turns its attention to the hidden orchestra of the night.
Beyond its sounds, the album invites reflection on the inner lives of animals, revealing the intelligence, sensitivity, and subtle behaviours of nocturnal creatures. Intimate and immersive, Nokturno celebrates the mystery and fragility of night ecosystems while reminding listeners of the importance of protecting these habitats. Link
