DE ARMA - Second Single From The Upcoming Album Available For Streaming

Swedish goth rockers De Arma have revealed the second single "Pain Of The Past" taken from the forthcoming album Strayed In Shadows, which is scheduled for release on 25 June via Trollmusic. Some weeks ago the band released the first single "Illusions Of Love", featuring guest vocalist Maria Oja and you can check it out over HERE.

Guitarist/bassist/vocalist Andreas Pettersson comments about "Pain Of The Past": "This is a song about the struggle of letting go of the past. How one still maintains a fragmented connection with moments that left lifelong implications on one's life. It is also about profound yet self-destructive relationships. And it is about wallowing in self-pity without ever letting oneself move forward entirely. When your mind wishes those days will never come true, while the heart still craves a return to times gone by."

Melancholy is a delicate matter. This haunting emotion can in one moment sting unbearably painful yet at other times even deliver a bittersweet pleasure to the afflicted. Yet there can be no doubt that this feeling permeates all of the songs on De Arma's sophomore full-length Strayed In Shadows in one way or the other. And while the Swedes shift musically in and out and between melancholic metal, gothic rock, shoegaze, and even post-punk, melancholy remains the duo's anchor point.
