Battle Dagorath is one of those bands that surely came from another dimension of consciousness, a successful international effort between BSB (Black Sorcerer Battle), multi-instrumentalist from California (USA) and the keyboardist Vinterriket from Switzerland. This is definitely an atmospheric black metal band that acts in the dreamlike realm. Since 2008 when was released their first full-length album, Eternal Throne, the band keeps their excellence. Battle Dagorath's sonic journey is based in the classical high-fantasy works of J.R.R. Tolkien: The Hobbit, Lord Of The Rings and The Silmarillion.

All the band's albums are conceptual and sequential forming this musical epic work of unquestionable quality. Now the band released the fifth full-length, II - Frozen Light Of Eternal Darkness, a part two of the cycle which begun in October 2016 with the previous album I - Dark Dragons Of The Cosmos. This new opus is one of the albums that most draw my attention this month and without any doubt will be one of my chosen ones 2017 top albums.

II - Frozen Light Of Eternal Darkness is a resplendent display of atmospheric black metal, with lengthy tracks united in a charming way. The soundscape provided by Battle Dagorath on this album changes constantly, taking you on this journey through the world of dreams, world of fantastic beings. Each chord will bring you visions of both darkness and light. Please, put on your headphone and close your eyes, you will wake up in this interdimensional world already in the first 45 seconds and will only return to this corrupt reality of greed that is our world after almost 1 hour and 20 minutes.

If you want comparisons, that I think have no need, I would say they have some similarities with Earth And Pillars, another amazing band. This last album of Battle Dagorath is one of the most impressive albums in their sonic career. A majestic keyboard offered in its finest omnipresence, mixed with frosty yet melodic riffs and melancholic yet fierce vocals in all tracks. Well, BSB for sure can teach to some other bands what is to become a real entity of the style. Cold bleak atmospheres glorifying the darkness yet bringing the light of hope in a new horizon of bliss after a painful battle for self awareness.

"The Great Untuning" is a mystical haunted instrumental track that works out as in a hypnosis. From the second track, "Death Ov Aeons", one of my highlights, up to track number six, you'll travel in the dream dimension of Battle Dagorath. The latest instrumental tracks, serve well to wake you up from this fantastic world. All of the tracks are interconnected between themselves brilliantly, even the most long, "Cast Their Ashes To The North Wind", another highlight. "Asteres Palanetai" is my other favorite track that begins with a haunted and coldest atmosphere that is raped by passionate riffs.

Atmospheric black metal is really one of the sub genres that attracts me in a very special way and Battle Dagorath, who started well rooted in the original black metal, is one of the bands that conquered me in an instant, due to the wisdom of its members who know how to transform the traditional into something current and glorious, when it comes to epic albums and fantastic legends. Long life to these enlighten beings and their brilliant opus.
